Home Sweet Home

Well, I have been in Windhoek for a whole 7 hours...and it is a beautiful 93 degrees here! Luckily it is a dry heat and not like the Fargo summers with humidity. I landed in Frankfurt yesterday morning around 9 am and miraculously met up with one of my professors, Jan, and Paula's husband, Steve.  After I met up with the group, we spent the morning and afternoon walking around Frankfurt.  We walked across the Eiserner Steg Bridge, or the "Frankfurt Love Bridge," which was really cool because the sides were filled with lockets.  Many locks were engraved with couples' names and years on them or had beautiful designs.  Once the couples lock their locket to the bridge, they throw the key in to the river below--how romantic!  For lunch, we ate at a traditional German pub where I ordered roasted sausage and a plateful of sauerkraut.  I swear the Germans eat it by the pound!  Finally, we boarded our plane from Frankfurt to Windhoek at 7 pm and arrived here at 7 am this morning.  We spent the morning touring our house in Katutura (a part of town in Windhoek), figuring out our living arrangements and gathering groceries for the next few days.

Below are some pictures of my day in Germany and the house I will be living in for the next two months!  There are 9 people in our group from PLU, including myself, and in the house there are also 12 Norwegians and a couple Canadians!

and being up for 36+ hours straight...

We are staying at the Wadadee House in Katutura.

It's been a while since I've seen beautiful skies this blue.

Did I mention we have a house dog named Hope?!
She's a dog that was rescued by the guys who own our house.

More to come! I'm off to lay by the pool! :)
